WHO WE ARE
The Spring Hill Community Empowerment Center of Virginia, Inc. (SHCEC) is the non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation founded by the Spring Hill Baptist Church, Blackstone, Virginia with the goal of putting God’s love into action through the provision of direct services, programs and informational resources that educate, engage, and empower residents of the communities of Blackstone, Burkeville, Crewe and Nottoway County, Virginia.
The SHCEC was founded on a rich legacy of more than two decades of compassionate service delivery by dedicated volunteers implementing programs ranging from school-based tutoring to enhance academic achievement; organized recreation programs to foster character development and leadership skills; direct engagement with individuals, families, and seniors to promote healthy living; and addressing a variety of emergency needs such as food, clothing, housing, and transportation assistance.
OUR MISSION
To empower seniors, families, individuals, youth, and children, regardless of their socio-economic status, through resources, information, and loving engagement to help them grow, prosper, and limit risk factors that restrict their capacity to achieve success today and in the future.

We are dedicated to a vision of a world where everyone is fully employed, has access to quality education opportunities and health care, a decent place to live and enough food to support a successful, active, and healthy life.

The SHCEC is led by a Board of Directors and a dedicated cadre of volunteers who intentionally and continuously strive to promote an inclusive organizational culture that values diversity, strengthens inclusion, and builds a strong local community. WHAT WE DO
Through a network of committed volunteers and strategic partnerships with other community-based organizations, churches, and members of the business community, SHCEC is able to provide a broad range of services, including but not limited to: emergency food and clothing assistance; tutoring and educational enrichment programs; youth and adult employment readiness assistance; health and nutrition support and information; and connections to county, state and federal resources and information to tackle housing, healthcare and other human needs of those in our community. We take great care to care for the whole person, always remembering that ours is not a relationship for a moment but, rather a lasting relationship that is continually built upon a history of service and commitment to those in need.
